Ever Vigilant Church Militant

Body broken,
God hath spoken—
By the Word,
Spirit led.

Ever vigilant
Church militant—
Triumphant chorus—
Praise surrounds our King.

Fear no battle:
Christ has conquered,
Joined us to His body,
By the Spirit’s love.

The Nile He parted,
Drowned Pharoah’s army;
Walls of Jericho
Have tumbled to ruin.

Above the treetops
Goes the Lord’s army:
We enter into
His victory won.

Saints of old testify,
The angelic host,
Led by the Angel
Of our mighty Lord.

Open the eyes of
Your blind, dull servants:
Give us eyes to see
The invisible host.

Christ goes before us,
As with Saints of old;
The Church triumphant
Cry, “How long, O Lord?”

Though Satan prowls,
God’s Lamb shall growl,
Binding the strong man
For the Body’s work.

Adopted to Christ
United His Body,
Equipped by Spirit,
Taking dominion—

All is Christ’s;
Christ is all,
From heaven
To hell’s depths.

Church awaken,
Fulfill the mission:
Christ hath given
Thee commission.

Unfurl the banner,
Proclaim the news:
By His sign
Shalt thou conquer.

Let the gentiles rage
As saints work the fields
For the kingdom
That has no end.

May our Sabbath
Never be
Until Christ
Claims victory.
