The Eucharist: A Child’s Verse

Flesh he took
Interceding he blest
Dying he broke
Rising he gave
The manna that saves
The draught of his blood
That ran over the wood
Which he bore to the pyre
Where he passed through the fire
And Eve’s tempter was crushed
The death of her death
Raised up for all life
That her sons may be saved
By the flesh Mary bore
For the good of the world
Royal priests he has fed
Their feast at the end
Is tasted today
Do not delay
Oh that today!
You would take and eat Him
And have strength for the day
For the journey from Hinnom
To the Mount of the Lord
Is too great for you
